Signal v. Noise: Designing for the web ought to mean making HTML and CSS

Also not interested in retreating into the idea that you need a whole team of narrow specialists to make anything work. That “full-stack” is somehow a point of derision rather than self-sufficiency. That designers are so overburdened with conceptual demands on their creativity that they shouldn’t be bordered or encouraged to learn how to express those in the native materials of the web. Nope. No thanks!

Designing for the modern web in a way that pleases users with great, fast designs needn’t be this maze of impenetrable complexity. We’re making it that! It’s possible not to.

Sounds like @dhh would be a good match for material.is.

PlantUML: Is it possible to only use straight lines in a class diagram?

At least there is an option to use straight lines. Curved lines in an UML diagram look really strange to me. The implementation is far from perfect, but gets the job done for now.

Notion – The all-in-one workspace for your notes, tasks, wikis, and databases.

Write, plan, collaborate, and get organized. Notion is all you need — in one tool.

Looks interesting, but I guess I have no need for it in my current workflow. Maybe this is something for the future.

Lessons learned from writing over 300,000 lines of infrastructure code

Dinge, die man am Feiertag so machen kann: Den Server im RZ in Frankreich aus einer Boot-Kernel-Panic retten zum Beispiel. Orrrr.

EditorConfig

EditorConfig helps developers define and maintain consistent coding styles between different editors and IDEs. The EditorConfig project consists of a file format for defining coding styles and a collection of text editor plugins that enable editors to read the file format and adhere to defined styles. EditorConfig files are easily readable and they work nicely with version control systems.

This looks useful for open source projects (and companies where everybody chooses its own editor).

tmux-resurrect: Persists tmux environment across system restarts

tmux-resurrect saves all the little details from your tmux environment so it can be completely restored after a system restart (or when you feel like it). No configuration is required. You should feel like you never quit tmux.

Just added this to my tmux setup. Let's see how it works out in the long run.

Huginn

Huginn is a system for building agents that perform automated tasks for you online. They can read the web, watch for events, and take actions on your behalf. Huginn's Agents create and consume events, propagating them along a directed graph. Think of it as a hackable version of IFTTT or Zapier on your own server. You always know who has your data. You do.

Aperture

Aperture is a Microsub server. Microsub is a spec that provides a standardized way for reader apps to interact with feeds. By splitting feed parsing and displaying posts into separate parts, a reader app can focus on presenting posts to the user instead of also having to parse feeds. A Microsub server manages the list of people you're following and collects their posts, and a Micropub app shows the posts to the user by fetching them from the server.

Another piece of the IndieWeb puzzle.
